Just think, Sprint hasn't released an upgrade for the touch diamond. So i'm sure they are going to release something that is a all touch screen windows mobile device. This is all speculation but it's to early to start saying who is and isn't getting the phone yet.
I am getting my information from Engadget, PPCGeeks, Sprintusers.com, Phone Arena, Phonescoop, Pocketnow, PPCThoughts, JAMM, etc. just to name a few. Possibly some of the same sources you are getting your information from. Several of these web sites have quoted HTC's CEO Peter Chou as saying Sprint did not approach his company about acquiring the HD2. Phone Arena has listed under their "Upcoming Phones" section for Sprint, the TD2/whitestone which has yet to materialize. From various threads at Sprintusers, "Sprint insiders" have said that Sprint will carry a TD2/whitestone. No one with inside info is leaking or confirming that the HD2 is even being considered. We know that T-Mo UK has the HD2 so why would it be a stretch for T-Mo US to get it. They were after all the 1st big US telco to get the Touch Pro2 with Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon following. I have no idea why Sprint has taken so long to release a keyboardless variant of the TP2. AT&T and Verizon both have. I don't assume the lack of a TD2 on Sprint means the HD2 is coming. The Touch HD despite being one of the best WinMo phones released at the time was never adopted by any of the US carriers. I also don't see why AT&T would add the HD2 to its lineup given it would be a direct competitor with the iPhone. While anything is possible, there is no definite indication right now that Sprint will carry the TD2 or HD2. The big marketing push on Sprint right now is towards WebOS and Android based phones. I suspect that until WinMo 7, the telcos are going to heavily promote other OS's and limit the number of WinMo phones they carry. Personally, I don't care who gets the HD2. My contract is up with Sprint and I can go anywhere now. I would hope Sprint gets it but they may have to count me as yet another lost customer if they don't provide a reasonable phone upgrade path (e.g. TD2 or HD2).
