Exactly. "Trail" is a better word to describe the problem, thanks.
Anyway, it's not that important that I have a custom photo there, so I'm just going to leave well enough alone.

I was able to get it resolved by changing the background, then switching theme to "classic blue" theme->restart->switch back to ur desired theme (be sure to leave the background photo option checked under Today's menu the whole time).
