If the WM version is anything like the Palm OS version, then "push" is based on SMS push. That is, when Seven's servers detect a new email for you, a special SMS is sent to your device to trigger an auto-sync with your email server.

Sprint's SMS system tends to get delayed so I've noticed 5-20 minute delays for that SMS trigger to come through.

The same principle holds with the Oz messenger app where the 1st message is usually a SMS based "wake up" IM.
