My personal rule of thumb is that if you've got the device memory, use it. A custom ROM will give you well over 120MB free. Anything that I think will be important goes on the device memory. I do put all my games in My Storage. Currently i have everything that i typically run on my phone to the device memory with 99.63MB Free. I'm ok with that.
