This should be in the settins of the app if I am not mistaken. I used to use TCMP but I use
Pocket Player now and it too works fine.

You can use something like
Hack Master to overclock. I keep mine at 520 but have gone as high as 624 at lone times without issues.
As for the coversion for MPEG2, there are several apps out there that will convert but I have never found the need to convert or re-encode
