Put it any where on you device (including storage card). Open File Explorer, and find the pic. Tap & hold, select "Set As Today Backgound". Then it will ask you for the Transparency %, 0% is what you want. Then hit OK, and now you will not have a faded backgrond image on your today screen.

Couldn't agree more with putting it in the fact section I too had the same problem awhile back and about went crazy for trying to figure it out and it turned out to be so simple in the end. LOL.
