Both of my pcs at home are XP(SP3) so I would like to know if you tried it on XP? And if so what did you do. I have tried every hack out there and that I can think of, and Chevron Unlocker still gives my the "Uh Oh" error. Im still hopeful as I have seen some XP users (just about 3 lol) where able to successfully unlock with Chevron on XP.

Chevron did not work on XP for me, because you cannot install the WP7 Developer tools on an XP machine. I couldn't do it till I got on Vista

You can install WP7 dev tools on XP, I did it myself emulator and everything works it just takes some registry hacks, The issue I found is Chevron since it was created on and for Windows 7 its not a compatible WIN32 application on XP, and its not worth the level of work needed to reverse engineer it and to make it work. I discovered this about 3 weeks ago and just upgraded to the student discount version of Windows 7. I love it no issues and everything on the HD2/chevron unlocker side, as well as everything else(DFT ROM/XAP/Apps Live services etc) worked like a charm. I figured I could hack it all on XP but in the end it was not worth the work and Im happy I upgraded.

If anyone is intrested on WP7 dev tools on XP try or search or send me a PM. But you will only get about 75% development value out of it. If you truly want WP7 on your HD2 and are serious about developing for WP7 you need to just upgrade as Orange Kid suggested, you can try VISTA< :( > or Windows 7< ;) > as I did. The work need and hacks are just too many and don't give you 100% functionality. Basicly its not worth the work.

Now im reading up on the Kitchen being created over at XDA, and Tools in order to make custom ROMS.

I love my HD2, I dual boot WP7 and Android from MAGLDR 1.12. If you have not heard Cotulla released MAGLDR 1.13 and is working on a WM6.5 SD version capability. Soon we'll be triple booting with some partions and such. I alerted NGRZ28 of this via twitter as hes my fav Windows Mobile 6.5.X ROM builder.

The HD2 is by far my favorite mobile device ever. Usually I like to upgrade phones every 6months to a year, but not with my HD2 its trully outliving itself with all the great work by cotulla, Dark Forces Team (DFT) and others.

Update for WP7 through Zune is now in effect

Well everyone the WP7 update is here, seems Sprint will be releasing the HTC WP7 Pro 7 this Thursday and will potentially bring more people interested in WP7 to ppcgeeks. Especially since Sprint is the first U.S.(CDMA) carrier to release a WP7 device, and add along the very strong love here for its predecessor the HTC Touch Pro 2. I believe we will start seeing more trafic for WP7 here soon.

But regarding our HD2 I attempted to update via Zune and got as far as message " We couldent back up phone because your phone registry settings are incorrect".

I may be totally off but its worth a try(maybe tonight) if I simply remove SD, and reset phone, the original WP7 partion will now be on my device and not my SD card. Besides that I don't believe the DarForcesTeam Rom (other than some hardware reg tweaks) is that different from stock ROM. Maybe it can be bypassed, or maybe someone with a WP7 device will provide a registry update file to mirror an actual WP7 device for upgrading purposes.

In any case I would not worry about it for too long from a user prespective as im sure an updated ROM will be provided shortly.

Sorry folks just thiniking from a nerds perspective on possible bypassing options w/out flash just for the fun of it. In any case I hope this will bring more people interested in WP7 to ppcgeeks.

well this update only updates some system files to be able to update when it actually comes out, so it wouldn't benefit us anyways, since the NoDo and Mango updates will probably just be cooked into ROMs.
