after downloading a new application,receiving the error message "this is not a valid ppc application"

You probably downloaded an .exe not a .cab.

You are probably running the .exe file for a PC, and not using the cab file for a PPC.

I have the same problem too. Is there a way to convert it to a cab?

Same thing here. But I downloaded it from a ppc site...real new to the ppc scene any help would be appreciated

you have to open the exe on your pc when your device is synced. It will install on the cab on your ppc automatically.
