Yeah.....it's good to be back. Do we need to raise money for a new server?

New server eh? Maybe we could get HTC to buy us one during the class action lawsuit... "Due to the lack of support fomr HTC, the PPCGeeks site increased in size causing an increase in costs for server maintenance and bandwith. As a part of the reparations, HTC must buy PPCGeeks a new server...."

That'd be the day...

I can't re-enable your sites until we can get your applications under

It might help some of us in recommendations for you to list some of the current resources. Are you running under a Linux server (which control panel too) or a Microsoft box? Daily/Monthly connections, bandwidth, storage, databases? Ideally you want to do a lateral move onto an equivalent system to minimize migration issues.

I've used Dixiesys for years and while I'm "happy" with them, they do get the occasional interruption. Since we all want near 100% uptime for PPCGeeks (or we suffer withdrawls), a larger host with full time supervisory support is probably best (as opposed to 100% coverage for most common problems but administrative issues are only 8am-8pm)

As for having another user kill process, that can happen on the shared servers. It should result in immediate termination of the user doing the killing, but the ISP's do protect their oversell

At $100 or so per YEAR, dreamhost is a good financial deal. If PPCgeeks moves to a dedicated server hosting costs would rise to about $100/month. Wideawake should not have to bear that cost alone. Another thing to look at, Mike, is Dreamhost P.S. You should ask tech support about that. It is a scalable virtual server and is less costly than a full dedicated.

Yeah he's using Dreamhost right now, that's why I think it might be easier to just get a PS account with Dreamhost as they'll transfer everything over for you and free of charge, makes it a bit easier. Plus if I recall he's already prepaid for his account, so it would be a cheaper option.
