Exclamation aGPS fix for Verizon phones: MR1 update or custom

Hey all. Just saw this over at XDA and thought I'd make sure everyone here knew about it. Skywing has written a fix that enables GPS for MR1 roms or custom roms. It's easy to install and works great. I did it myself and it took me less than 2 minutes (most of that was reboot time). The only limitation that has been found has a workaround for now until a permanent solution can be implemented (check out the associated forum). So, if you want GPS on your XV6800 stock MR1 or custom, check out http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix and follow the instructions. It's much easier for MR1 than customs, but it works for both. Have fun!

So if you do MR1, you can do the QPST trick and GPS will work again?

I used Pim Backup from dotfred to rid myself of Activesync and Outlook. Works great for me. http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm.

You would use PimBackup to backup your contacts, messages, appointments, etc.

If you need to load a rom without using a computer. Flash any rom using the SD card method.

Im too lazy to link to appropriate thread but its around and its very easy.

Will this trick work to enable aGPS location on the i760?

No QPST trick needed. Install MR1, resync your phone, then install the cab file for the aGPS fix. Voila, GPS. Couldn't be simpler.

Yes, several fixes have been out for a while, even this. I'm just spreading the news that now they have it in a convenient cab form that fully works except for actual com port connections. It's better than what the original was because it has bug fixes and the cab file easily installs everything without editing the registry or copying files to specific locations. Now anybody new or veteran can install and uninstall easily.
