Android 2.1 Arabic Support?

I just want to send and receive texts in Arabic without seeing a bunch of boxes instead of characters. I also want to send and receive IM's in Arabic without seeing a bunch of boxes. I read all over but I can't find the answer to my problem.

If it's possible, is there a solution to get full Arabic support (text messaging and 3rd party applications) without rooting my phone? If it isn't I don't mind rooting just be specific towards what to do.

Please help me out, thanks in advance.

This is for the Nexus One and Thai but the principal should be the same: (aside from the root method which is different)

there might be some apps that automate this..but root is required either way..until we get froyo at least

You are 100% sure you rooted your phone?

Also, have you tried seeing if there are any apps to automate the process..when I googled I saw a few but comments were in Arabic so I couldn't tell if it worked or not.
