the windows remote desktop doesnt work

i followed a video i saw on you tube about setting it up but i cant get it to work

it comes up as cannot connect likely reasons are

1. specifeied computer name or ip does not exist

2 a network error occured while establishing connection

any help ?

i tried searching for this in thread but no luck

Try the following:

Desktop configuration:

To connect using Remote Desktop, you must have a user account with a password. If you don't
yet have a password on your account, create a password by opening Control Panel, and clicking
User Accounts. Click your account, click Create a password, and follow the prompts. After you
have a password, follow these steps to enable Remote Desktop:

1. Right-click My Computer, and click Properties.
2. On the Remote tab, click the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer check box then click on Select Remote Users.
3. Check if the current user has access otherwise you have to add.
4. Click Start then click on Control Panel and double click on Windows Firewall
5. Click on the Exceptions tab and make sure Remote Desktop is included on the exception list.
6. Click Start then go to Programs then Accessories. Double click on Command Prompt.
7. Type the command “ipconfig”
8. Take note of the IP address generated.
Device Setup:

1. Connect your Windows Mobile device to the Wi-fi network.
Note: Make sure that the remote computer is connected to the same Wifi network.
2. Press Start and select Programs.
3. Select Remote Desktop Mobile.
4. Type the IP address you have taken note earlier and enter the username and password you use to access the remote computer.
Note: For Corporate network scenario, you may need to fill out the Domain.

5. Press on the Connect soft key.
6. Success.

Spent last 40 minutes trying to get it to work and I can't get it going. Try this because it is much easier haha. It worked great for me on the Touch Pro. I will try on my treo pro when I get a chance. If you get to it before I do let me know how it worked out for you. It adds a server on your pc so you don't have to go through all the steps.

Just an update. RTD2 is working fine on my Treo Pro. Got it set up this afternoon and can confirm it connects correctly. I would go this route if possible!

Have you try remote desktop on a laptop or PC from outside? If that work, then doing it on the phone should work too.

The problem is that people can get other PC's and even some treo's to work, but no one can get the Treo Pro working. Idk why.
