64GB memory card due Spring 2010

Okay, so this won't work in our phones, but... Every time a new higher capacity SD card has been announced in the past, very shortly after that a microSD card becomes available at half of the new capacity. Maybe we'll soon see 32 gig microSDHC available? My 16 gigger is over 90% full:

Full release re 64 gig SDXC is here:

That is an SDXC and not an SDHC...even if a 32gb microSDXC is released it probably wont work on our phones. The microSDHC is possible to go up to 32gb but it would in no way be effected by the release of MicroSDXC

Also wanted to add that Sandisk did announce plans for 2009Q2(production..not retail) for 32gb microsdhc cards..but haven't heard of them so maybe a delay.

Re: 64GB memory card due Spring 2010

When 32 gig cards become available in microSD form factor, they will almost certainly work in the slot for microSDHC many of our phones have. I say this because the SDXC specification is clearly indicated for cards over 32 GB by the SD Card Association, here:

No they would not

The good news is that SDxc will have the same SD and microSD format- they have dropped miniSD for this new SDxc standard. New devices supporting SDxc will be backwards compatible with all your SD and SDHC cards. The bad news is that unlike the transition from SD to SDHC, which sometimes only required a firmware update, requires supporting chipsets. So don’t expect to simply firmware upgrade your current player for this new format.

What I'm saying is that when 32 giggers become available in microSD form factor, they will be microSDHC (not microSDXC). And phones such as the Vogue which have the SD 2.0 Specification, are all set for microSDHC up to and including 32GB.

The above came from www.sdcard.org and it shows 32GB to be of SDHC spec, not SDXC.

64gb is nothing compared to this! Let's just hope this technology comes to all formats and before the end of next decade.

Re: 64GB memory card due Spring 2010

I dont get it... Why wont it work? I ask because I have the htc vogue (sprint touch) right now and I plan on going and buying the touch pro 2 as soon as it comes out them im gonna go online and buy the biggest micro sd card i can find for under $150. So if someone could please explain what all the controversy is about I would appreciate it so I can save my money and just the 4gb card I already have.

Okay let me clear up some misconception..There is a 32GB SDHC and 32GB SDXC

The article in the topic stated that just because 64GB SDXC comes out means that 32 GB cards would come out..that may be true but the 32GB would be SDXC not particularly SDHC.

The Vogue and all other phones would be be able to run the 32GB MicroSDHC..similar to the article I linked above, BUT MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NOT A 32GB MicroSDXC as that would not work.

And to the above 2tb is the limit of SDXC...you wont be seeing them for a long time similar to when SDHC first came out you didn't see 32gb cards
