Is the Samsung Omnia II Unlockable for Sprint?

Since the Samsung Omnia II is now official for Verizon, will you be able to purchase it and use it on Sprint's network (considering both networks are CDMA) ?

It is not illegal to use a different phone on a network. Thats what "unlocked" means, and companies do sell phones unlocked. Your provider though won't insure the phone and no tech support and etc...

AFAIK Sprint won't activate a phone that doesn't have an ESN in their database. The legal issue is an ESN swap.

Well yeh, sprint won't activate a phone that isn't on their ESN list..I heard Verizon does though..weren't they advocating open devices on their network?(not 100% sure)

But this makes me wonder, sprint has been advocating unlocked device for use for Wimax network, so I wonder if it will change in the future..

On similar subject, ESN swapping is illegal in the US, but if you swap ESN in a different country/international waters and then bring it into the US. Would that slide? lol

Re: Is the Samsung Omnia II Unlockable for Sprint?

After comparing the Omnia II and Touch Pro II, can anyone tell me one reason other than the physical keyboard, that they might choose the TP2? Looks to me like the Omnia has got it all over the TP2.

The TP2 CDMA is suppose to allow GSM in Europe and etc..not sure if the Omnia II has that feature...also Speaker phone is suppose to be good on TP2, but one of the biggest is probably the keyboard...

If Omnia II came with a keyboard it would have been another story..
