Tethering/data question, Help needed

ive been having a problem with Wireless tether, and data after a few min...between 5-15 mi, my data connection goes out.

if im streaming with sirius ill notice the music will stop and ill look at the screen and itll say data connection lost. but i have a full signal.
it will ussually start back up on its own. with a min or 2

with wireless tether ill be on youtube for instance and it will just stop downloading/uploading for a few minutes, sometimes more.
the 3g signal goes out but not to often. also seems like the tether stops more often if the download lasts longer.

ive done a hard reset, and only running these 2 apps to see if something else it causing it. but it still does the same. any help will be extremely appreciated

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

Check your Advanced WiFi Settings ... default is for the WiFi to turn off when screen is off. Also check battery profiles.

My guess is it's trying to turn off wifi for some power saving profile.

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

this still happens no matter, what mode the battery is in.

it even happens while im connected to the charger or usb to pc

it just seems like there is a problem with the data connection because when i stream with sirius, sirius will stop and say data connection lost. with the screen on or off

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

I've noticed this as well.. I just kind of chalked it up to not being as reliable as the wifi tethering for windows mobile. Same symptoms and everything.

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

tonight i payed more attention to what is happening, when i loose the data connection.

all it is, is the 3g speeds. i notice everytime when web pages dont load, or when my sirius player on the droid or pc stops. the 3g is gone. sometimes it will take awhile for 3g to come back. and also at the same times i will only have 1X or blank, until i power down and back up. all this while i have a full signal

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

Well- I am experiencing the same thing. So I will follow this thread- then we don't have to hi-jack the other op's thread.

You said to "check out the prl update *22899". Do you mean by that to dial star, 22899 from my handset? Or, star 228 option 9 option 9? or none of the above? Just for clarification.

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

yeah just go into your Dialer and Press *22899 then send , it will say something like your phone is being activated. it just updates it.

Re: Tethering/data question, Help needed

Yeah - that's what I figured. So I did it and it did update my prl- unfortunately it didn't help me any.

I am used to *228 option 2 - so I was just wondering if the 99 did something different.
