Pretty sure the answer is yes. I use gps on my alltel phone without buying any gps service from alltel.

I've tried a bunch of guides to get GPS working, but it can never find any satellites. Can someone point me to a good, complete, non-aGPS guide to setting this up? I'm on Verzion with radio 3.37

Same with me...I have had a TouchPro and a XV6800 that both worked perfectly using the GPS w/o a data plan, but with my new XV6900 tha tI got last week, I have done all the suggested steps on every forum on this site as well as XDA-Developers, yet it just says "Searching for signal" and does not even SEE any satellites.

I use the serf telus agps cab and use QPST just follow these instructions and you should be fine. you will have to manually edit the registry to disable agps and I had to use HTC GPS as a primer but I got it to work in a country that doesn't have verizon so it should work for everyone.

(1) First make sure that under settings->phone->services->location make sure it is NOT set to 911 only.

(2) Also I have read that the XV6900 shipping from Verizon with WM6.1 has the 'crippled' gps drivers already installed. This link

http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?t...IX_VERIZON_GPS

explains how to put it back to the pre-crippled release.

After doing the wiki fix then use a primer ap like gpsviewer to get your lock then open up up your gps program like tom tom or google maps etc.
