GPS on xv6900 without service?

Hello all,

I have a xv6900 that I'm currently using and the GPS is great. I use it with both Garmin and a fitness application.

I'm switching to a curve, and I'm wondering if the GPS will still work if there isn't an account or service tied to the hardware. I know the locks may take longer, but I'm curious if it will work at all. Can anyone confirm?
