Re: bad power button

the button located at the top is a pretty easy fix if you crack it open yourself but I don't know if thats the best road for you too take, I'd take that sucker back...or upgrade like your thread asked...

That trick works on just about anything, even misbehaving children.

Re: bad power button

For future reference, under Start/settings/lock there is an option to lock or unlock all hardware keys when your device is on standby. Unlocking them will let your green/red buttons wake your device up. Got a Touch with a bad power button myself.

My touch cought the power button bug too, however, it was more related to the drop out of my pocket onto the floor though.
Tell me more about the repair...

Re: bad power button

Actually I had a problem when my phone fell out of my pocket too. My power button wasn't broke though it was just REALLY hard to push (had no play).

I unwedged the top of the case and the button fell back into place so it moves freely again. I think the case has a slot in it that holds the power button. If it falls into that slot it has no play.

Re: bad power button

mine presses all the way in, just doesn't do anything, doesn't come out as far as original and has no positive click when pushing on it.

I'm a firm beleiver in not paying $8/month in insurace on a phone that's out of date the moment you get it... so it's my own fault I have to live with out the power button.

Ah well, my contract is up in 6 months, maybe I'll just wait untill then to upgrade!

Re: bad power button

Is it still within the one year warranty from HTC? perhaps you could just call them and ask them to have a look at it. I've heard HTC was pretty cool about actively supporting their devices.
