Cant Get Gps To Work

just like the title, i have a htc touch for sprint and i cant seem to get any gps program to work. although i really have no idea how to set it correctly.
any help??

Couple of questions, just so we know how best to assist you:

1) have you searched in the "Upgrades" sub-forum? A lot of GPS discussion goes on there, since it is considered an upgrade.

2) What ROM do you currently have? Go to Start>Settings>System>Device Info the newest Sprint ROM is version 3.03.651.4, which includes GPS. If you have a version other than that you may not have the GPS functionality enabled.

Answering those questions will help us to understand exactly what's going on.

As well as what Musicman has said make sure your location is on and that you are set to comm4 on your GPS>>>>

the rom i have is 1.12.651.1
i have the port set at com4 but what about the hardware port?
and im not to sure how to upgrade the sprint rom and or get a program to enable the gps

If you arecomfortable with changinging the rom (it's very easy) then use the official rom (if you mess up you are still covered by Sprint) or you can bring your phone into Sprint store and they will do it for you.

There are MANY GREAT Roms here made by some extremely knowledgeable and helpful "CHEFS" and eventually you will, at the least , like many of us less knowledgeable members enjoy upgrading your phone on a regular basis

I would start with the Official ROM, since it is just a program you run with your phone connected to your computer. It's just one step.

OK.. i am gunna try to do this. it seems that when i connect with active sync it says to create a outlook account or something to be able to sync my contacts and everything. because i have to back everything up. this is goin to wipe out the whole device correct?

sorry if i seem kinda dumb but i have only done some minor tweaks and some cabs and stuff never went into registery or roms anything

so i got the new sprint rom downloaded. everything went fine except my contacts didnt get put back on. i think i had to stop the active sync before it went all the way syncronizing????

Yeah, you should have fully synched before installing the ROM. Sorry for the late call on that.
