But it takes a lot more than 2 seconds to click up if I have to go through the Windows folder. It takes a good amount of time to load that one up. |

Re: Help with File Explorer Default Location
I have found that when \Windows\ is the next 'up' move, double tapping the left softkey sort of skips the Windows step. It still takes longer than the usual up step, but not as long as when it has to actually stop at the Windows step.
Wait, edit: Just thought of a couple possible solutions. First one is to create a shortcut to Windows\fexplore.exe and specify the file or folder you wish it to always open first by way of a parameter. Other one is to use a better file browser. My fave is GS Finder Plus. It's freeware and by setting it to use large icons, you can do file browsing with the thumb of the hand holding your Touch, no need for pulling out stylus, putting on reading glasses. GSFinder+ has a setting called "Remember last folder" which can be checked or unchecked: Info re GSF+ is here: http://tinyurl.com/62eshh Last edited by MrGoodtunes; 09-13-2008 at 10:01 PM. |

Re: Help with File Explorer Default Location
Thanks for your help. I have a few questions first tho:
1. How do you set the parameter again? I'm not familiar with setting those up. 2. I was messing around in the registry, and I found a key that I think refers to remembering the last location in file explorer: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\File Explorer\ Lastlocation The default value is 1. I tried to change it to 0 and then soft reset, but it didn't do anything. Does anyone know how to set this so that it won't remember the last location, if it's possible? Thanks again for helping me with this seemingly unimportant issue, and GSfinder+ is great! If the regedit for file explorer doesn't work, then I'll just stick with this. Thanks! Re: Help with File Explorer Default Location
...How do you set the parameter again?...
Good question! A geek screen named Musicman247 has posted alot of parameter info, but I just searched through it, and every one is for a cube shortcut. So your need may require something different. Still, based on his posts, my wild guess would be something like: -folder "My Device" I like GSF+ a lot. Besides making single handed file browsing possible and quick, it has powerful ways to set file extension associations to programs you want. But now there's a thread about something called fexploreext, which just might get me to switch back to fexplore, especially if somebody finds your answer. |
