How to return a watered down phone under warranty

Here's a little shady of a way to be able to return your phone if it's water damaged....

go to the store or borrow some of your moms/sisters/girlfriends/wifes/mistresses clear nail polish.

apply a "light" film over the water strip on the phone. this is waterproof so the strip should not change color if water happens to hit it..

now. this is just hypothetical. but i don't see why it wouldn't work.

*this post made out of spite to sprint for banishing future sero plans*

This sounds like a preventative measure, but won't do much help if that strip has already been wet.

any half decent technician would open the unit, so hopefully you dont get the unit that wet or they would see some sort of corrosion depening on how much/what type of liquid the unit was exposed to.

Why not just claim you lost it at the mall or the movie theater or at school?

Re: How to return a watered down phone under warranty

As a repair rep I can read through most BS, plus if we sent it in under S&R and it is found to be water damaged, YOU can get charged $300 or $50 if you carry TEP or ERP for smartphone/PDA if found at the depot. Plus, there are multiple things that give it away for waterdamage which clues a tech to examine the phone, such as failure to charge, not turning on, visible water inside of screen, water behind battery (I've had someone pull this on me, I just laughed at them, and pointed them to Asurion for lieing to me)

Number 1 rule of Phone Club Repair - ITS WATER DAMAGE

I'm sure thats how it goes, girlfriends phone went in for repair and we are sure it has never been wet - they check it and say water damge. They even had the excuse if you have it in the bathroom during shower or use with wet hair... riiight. shower 'maybe' .. wet hair doubtful

I had this problem when I took my Touch in for repairs after the screen cracked, I know that it had never come into contact with water, but they said otherwise. I found just placing a piece of scotch tape over the marker will prevent it from changing colors if its something minor like being in the bathroom during a shower, or talking with wet hands.
