phone screen stuck in sleep mode

I tried to install the new sprint rom, but for some reason once I click (not hold) the power button the screen doesn't go back to normal

any suggestions?

I had this same problem. You need to make sure you update your radio to 3.XX in order to use the 2.31 bootloader properly (i.e. the new sprint GPS Rev A ROM). Otherwise, you will have this problem. Just make sure you do all the steps and not stop between each step to see if things are still working.
