Exclamation Data connection cannot be deleted ! -- SOLVED --

Hello pals !

I have the Alltell rom on my htc touch from telus.

I want to get rid of the data connection, so I delete.
If I reset my touch, it comes back.

So then I change #777 to something different, but when I reset, it comes back to 777... it's like it's not saving the info.

Any idea or registry tweak ???

thanks in advance !

Re: Data connection cannot be deleted !

I had the same problem with my Sprint Touch on a different carriers network. Here is the easy solution. Add a new connection under the sprint connection with your carriers connection address and password. When you open connection settings you should see Auto pick, phone as a modem, sprint pcs and the new connection that you just made. Click on the circle in front of the connection that you just created and it will always use that connection. I would delete the sprint connections every time my phone was rebooted which was a pain in the butt. Even after a soft reset the new connection that you just made will stay as the connection that your phone will use to access the internet. Don't delete the other connections such as phone as a modem and sprint pcs. Hope this helps.

Re: Data connection cannot be deleted !

well, for the first thing i select the dummy connection that i made as default, whenever I reboot it selects Autopick. and the internet works then

for the HTC GUARDIAN FILE, I removed it from window-startup, i reboot, but the problem persists...

any thought ? reg edit ?

Re: Data connection cannot be deleted !

Try changing the access number. For example Verizon's number is #777 so change it to #772. I heard of folks doing that before.

Re: Data connection cannot be deleted !

i notice even after deleting the HTC_CM_Guardian.lnk from the startup folder the HTC_CM_Guardian.exe is still loaded in the memory when you rest the phone so a cool workaround is to create a text file and then rename the file into HTC_CM_Guardian.exe and overwrite the existing one in the /windows/ directory and you are done... the setting should stick after resting!

try that

Re: Data connection cannot be deleted !

Sorry to bring back a dead thread but I thought I should instead of making a new one. So I've done this but everytime I restart the phone it gives me an error saying it can't open "HTC_CM_Guardian.exe." Does everyone else get this? If not, why is it saying this?

I have a Bell Mobility Touch.
