Opera Mini 4 hanging survey

I think many of us really like Opera Mini 4 but some of us are hanving hangs while others are not. So I thought I'd try to survey how folks have things setup and use it to track down the problem and possibly avoid it.

This is a list of everything I can think of.

1) Which build (Check it in opera by going to Menu -> Tools -> Help -> About)

Build 9800

2) Opera Settings

Load Images: Yes
Image Quality: High
Font Size: Medium
Mobile View: UnChecked
Visual Effects: Checked
Land Scape Mode: UnChecked
Show overview: Checked
24-hour clock: UnChecked
Protocol: Socket

3) Launching

a) Start Java Midlet first
b) Short Cut
c) Short Cut from HTC Home Launcher

I use C

4) Java

I use Esmertec Jbed Build ID: 20070802.2.1

5) Network Permission

a) Stock selector.utf - Hit ok each time
b) Modified selector.utf - No prompts

I use A

6) How's it running for you

a) Never has hung
b) Hung once or twice not sure if it was opera
c) Hangs regularly and reproducably
d) Hangs randomly

I get behavior D

7) How much do you use it

a) Less than once a day and maybe only 10 minutes at a time
b) 10 Minutes a day
c) 1 hour a day
d) several hours a day

I'm some where around C

Landscape or Portrait mode (primary use)

I primarily use Portrait

9) Do you run Weather Panel

Yes (the only 3rd party today app I run)

10) Network Speed

EVDO usually

For the record I have tried the Intent Midlet Manager and hate it see other threads.
I have tried both protocols (Socket and HTTP) and Medium and High Image Quality.

Both

For myself, I stopped using Esmertec altogether and went to Intent. BTW, I tried the old Jeodek too. No go there either.

ER, Thanks !

You listed two JBed's can you explain?

Jbed 20070802.2.1
Jbed 20070917.4.1v

I only have the older one you listed, doesn't look like it solves anything though.

The older one is Cloudyfa's Jbed... the 0917 comes on the phone. Its the "Java" icon in your start menu.

Never a single hang or problem.

Using jbed, small fonts, landscape, no mobile view, launching directly from the cube, modified selector.utf, no weather panel, EVDO

I am not sure if this is the same problem but what is happening on mine is when I hit the d pad to fast scroll the screen will move down one page but then will dramatically jump about 2-3 more pages ( when i say pages I mean segments within the page. Anyone that uses fast scroll instead of the plain up and down should know what I mean.

I have tried this on jbed and on intent manager and get the same result but I notice on intent manager it's a lot worst.

I am running the newest opera 9800 and my options are

mobile view is on
medium text
load images high
visual effect checked
show overview checked
network protocol socket

If anyone could help it would be great because it's driving me crazy I can't get it to stop and have had over 15 phones prior to this and never had this problem. Is this phone related or is it the software or java manager causing this.

My D-Pad scrolls fine

Try disabling HTC Kinetic Scrolling and reboot.

In registry set HKLM/software/OEM/TFLOSettings/EnableScroll to 0
