Re: Verizon and Alltel Merger II
yes he did but anyways if you have an alltel phone/account then your prl when its updated is most likely Alltel's prl or Verizon's Hyibrid PRL. The means you pick up alltel towers before verizon towers. If this is the case then your signal will remain as is until you get put on the block list for the hybrid PRL (which can be done by calling TS) and waiting about 24 hours then doing another *228 option 2 to download a verizon prl. To check to see what you have you can head into your device information under settings and if your PRL starts with a 6***** then you have a hybrid or alltel prl...if it starts with a 5***** then your most likely verizon...request this gets moved to carrier discussion.

My prl versions is 40056. What does that tell you? And Thanks for the info and sorry for putting this in the wrong forum. Am I able to move it? I imagine only moderators can do this...

Re: Verizon and Alltel Merger II
40056 is the hybrid PRL. You can go ahead and install a Verizon PRL manually if you wish and this will put your phone on the same towers as the Verizon people you work with. The only drawback is that from time to time, they might automatically push you the Alltel PRL again, and you will have to repeat the process, but its really easy to do.
Start by downloading this PRL http://www.corolada.com/prl/verizon/51611.prl Copy the PRL file you download to your storage card. Open your phone dialer, and dial ##778, and press send. You will next see three options to View, Edit, or Cancel, choose Edit. It will ask you for a password, enter 000000 and press enter. Once it loads up, press the left soft key that says View Info, and choose PRL. Tap and hold on the top line that says Update PRL, and choose Edit. Then tap browse and you will see 51611 show up in the list, select it and choose OK, then press the right soft key, and choose OK. Now the phone will reboot, and when it does, you will now be on Verizon's Network, you can double check by going to Start, Settings, System, Device Information, and checking what it says for PRL. Hope this helps you. To me, this is easier than calling Verizon and speaking to a bunch of idiots, plus, its completely and easily reversible.

Re: Verizon and Alltel Merger II
I followed the directions too and now have a banner at the top of my phone that says "alltel extended". Do you know if this means i'm roaming and will I now have roaming charges?
