Google's Map Navigation is working for andriod 2.0 phones

Any hopes of this porting to a TP? The App looks great. Check it out on Engadget.

Re: Google's Map Navigation is working for andriod 2.0 phones

To be honest I'm not sure. You would think that once they get it solidly on Android that they would seek to put it on other platforms. However they might be a little annoyed with Apple over Google Voice so they might not be rushing to port there.

In my opinion they have only made halfhearted attempts at supporting the Windows Mobile market. Granted Google Maps is a pretty solid apps but everything else really comes across as "well we have to do something, so here are some mobile optimized links".

It might be a while before we see it ported elsewhere (especially WinMo) particularly if they want to use it as the killer app to sell Android phones.

All in all I hope others step up and can compete with Google in this space. Right now I think MS is the only one who can do it though. If they are going to I think they need to do before Google ports to other platforms.

Re: Google's Map Navigation is working for andriod 2.0 phones

I think with the recent comments by Google's CEO he doesn't seem too pleased with either Apple or Windows Mobile. Google navigator for Android is really their ace up their sleeve so they might not be too motivated to port it over to other devices. It could be that elusive "killer app" that everyone has been looking for.

IMO, in 1-2 years I think Apple and Google (Android) will be battling it out for the lead in the smartphone market with Windows Mobile in the far distance.

Again, just my opinion Microsoft really had their chance but the window of opportunity for Winmo has closed or is closing very fast.

Completely agree. Just watch that Motorola Droid video on Engadget and you will see exactly what we are missing out on with WinMo.

Watch these videos:

Eh never count Microsoft out. Right now it all hinges on WinMo7. It is really matter of just how important is the mobile market to MS.
