Trouble pairing Tp with car factory stereo

For the life of me I cannot seem to be able to pair with a 2009 Mercedes factory stereo with built in Bluetooth (NTG2.5). It finds the TP, but when I try to connect it tells you to enter passcode on the car and on your device. So i make up a simple passocode for the car and typed the same one for the phone, but it says cannot connect or incorrect passcode. I have tried it about 10 times already.

I have installed the HTC bluetooth security hotix as well as the 6.5 drivers cab and it didn't help. Any other bluetooth update out there.

I have Sprint 6.1 stock ROM and have no desire at this time to try custom ROM.

Re: Trouble pairing Tp with car factory stereo

i believe that you can put in any passocde you want as long as it is the same for car and phone. I can pair up with lotus LG just fine. It's the TP I have trouble with

NO, you have to use the correct password. it should be all 0"s or 1234... something like that. if you want to change it, you have to put in the correct password then change it to whatever you like.

Try using the keyboard to put in the code on the TP, sounds weird I know but I had to do that for my BT headphones and use "0000"

Re: Trouble pairing Tp with car factory stereo

Finally figured it out. In the car manual it explains a way to have the phone iniate the pairing instead of the car.

For other MB owners with NTG2.5, go to Phone-->Phone List-->Update--> Options--> External Authorization

Now you can go toyour TP and select Settings-->Bluetooth--> Add Device

All is good now.
