Keyboard crash & Custom ROMs

Hey all,

Just wanted to enlighten you guys on something I noticed. I was viewin' the threads about the hard keyboards no longer working on some devices. I too had the same problem with Mike's custom ROM and a couple of others. I then flashed back to the stock ROM and found that the keyboard started working again. I'm not too sure if it is in fact a hardware issue or ROM issue, but it sure started workin' for me again after I flashed to stock. I even went to the Sprint store to get a new phone AFTER I got the keyboard workin' (I wasn't gon' tell them to cancel the order 'cause everything was fine now).

I hope this helps in our quests for a fix.

Thanks,

Re: Keyboard crash & Custom ROMs

I feel like it's a mix of two different problems that exhibit similar symptoms. I have a similar issue to you where the keyboard would stop working sporadically, or be really laggy in typing. If it stops typing, my entire phone slows down and lags like hell. It seems that other folk are experiencing loose wires with keyboards, custom ROM or not. People have taken their phone apart to find the wires aren't connected at all and there are definetely folk with stock ROMs that have disconnected wires. For us I think there's some sort of driver issue with the keyboard that causes it to lock up randomly. Personally I think it's one of the keyboard lag fixes that has backfired horrible and locks keyboards up for some reason, as that is one of the only things I can think of that could affect the keyboard drivers. I know that MightyMike recently put in the keyboard fix into 4.13 I think and I feel like thats when keyboard complaints upticked. I wouldn't know for sure though as I don't cook ROMs.

Me either, but it was all too strange when I flashed back to stock and it worked perfectly again.

Re: Keyboard crash & Custom ROMs

Im using a stock sprint rom with no keyboard fixes and Im on my 2nd TP because my 1st ones keyboard completely stopped working, no lights, no nothing. Ive had this new TP (not refurbed) since last thursday and already its lagging, locking up and sporadically simply not turning on. Ive never once flashed a rom or did the keyboard fix on either of these 2 phones.

BTW, everytime I hard reset the phones the keyboard would work for a dy or 2 and start the same issues all over again so I doubt iit has anything to do with a rom or keyboard fix.
