i'm pretty sure that would be up to the network that is assigning the ip's, and not the device.

No promise that this will work (i can't test it from work) but give this a shot
Start > System > Connections > WiFi Settings Then, select the Menu item in the lower right and then Wi-Fi. on the Settings window that opens, select the Network Adapters tab. Find the wireless adapter in the list (mine is IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter) and click on it. you should see the settings you want on the screen that opens up. Let us know if it works.

cool I think that will work, I was able to set a static my IP, gateway, and DNS in my phone. Just have to test this when I get home later now

No need to 'test', it works. I run static on EVERYTHING, cept my PSP...

Its funny, at least 35 threads a day are people who tried to flash and messed up, or wonder why in the middle of the night their phone up and did a hard reset by 'itself'.
