WMWifirouter (yes, another thread)

So I have WMWifiRouter 1.25 installed on my TP runnning KK's Loaded ROM.

I made sure the 3 registry entries under WModem were changed to a 0. Configured WMWifiRouter when I installed it, and when I press connect it just hangs there and does nothing with the softkey highlighted, then after a while it just goes back to normal.

I then tried the internet sharing fix .cab, did a fresh install of WMWifiRouter and a soft reset and tried again. Same result.

I'm stumped.

Also could anyone link me to the last free version of WMWifiRouter? I searched, but to no avail.

if you know the topic has been beaten to death, why not just post in there?? it will still bump you up the topic list, but doesnt create another needless thread..

if you need to figure out how to tether properly, i urge you to turn to your cell phone provider for the proper solutions..

btw..welcome to the site

***Snip**
You MUST make sure ICS is working before you use WMwifirouter. It does not have to be turned on (the app does this for you), however just make sure ICS is working, then you can disconnect.

For version 0.8 only: (credit to original thread at xda developers and Chainfire):

Setting up an Ad Hoc WiFi connection on your mobile device

Make sure your WiFi radio is on.
Go to Start->Settings->"Connections" tab.
Select "Wi-Fi" applet.
On the "Wireless" tab, select "Add New...".

Type any network name you would like for your Ad Hoc network (eg. WMobileAdHoc)
Make sure the "This is a device-to-device (ad-hoc) connection" option is checked.

Select the "Next" button.
On the "Configure Network Authentication" screen, select "Open" for the Authentication type, and "Disabled" for Data Encryption. For the purposes of testing, lets verify the connection works without encryption, if it does, you can modify your Ad Hoc connection properties later to enable the encryption mode of your choice.

Select the "Next" button.
Select "Finish" on the final screen.

Configuring a static IP address on your WiFi device
Go to Start->Settings->"Connections" tab.
Select the "Wi-Fi" applet.
On the "Network Adapters" tab, select your WiFi device (for the HTC Mogul this is the item listed as "IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter").

On the "IP Address" tab, select the "Use specific IP address" radio button. For the IP address enter the value "192.168.0.9" with a Subnet mask of "255.255.255.0".

OK the dialog.

****end snip***

I know how to tether properly, ICS works properly as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome but I'm not new to this kind of stuff.

Thanks for the walk-through, but I'm on version 1.25. I have a pretty good knowledge of networking but I seem to get the same results as before.

Could anyone point me in the direction of the .cab for v0.8?

if u do have v125 thats the most current and best working version... im guessing your using the trial of wmifi? otherwise it doesnt make sense to pay thirty bucks for a lisenced verison and then go and use a still useful, but inferior freeware version of it..

and if your hell bent, its around, but i wont point you in the direction of where to find it, due to a major debate on this siite right now, sorry

Re: WMWifirouter (yes, another thread)

I understand the issue with not being able to provide a freeware version of a now shareware program. I just figured I may as well take a stab at it using a different version of the program, because this one obviously isn't working.
