Touch Pro - 1/9/09 Build Date

Hey quick question. Mine with the 1/9/09 build date has, on the top half, right side, about 1" wide clear tape that wraps under the back - it's about an inch long inside (under, wrapped around) - is that tape supposed to stay there? Was that tape there on anyone elses?

Should I peel it off?

Take a picture... Does it look like the plastic tape that's on a new phone? You shouldn't need to ever keep a piece of tape on a new device. It's normally for protection.

I believe all phones had that. 2 of the phones I've gotten in early November had them. Those were the first batches. And yes you're supposed to peel it off.

Ok, it peeled right off. Sheepish grin. Now I wonder if I will get better battery life

Dream on. You have a Touch Pro! Even miracles can't give it bearable battery life.

you can peel it off.it won't hurt anything at all.

My first one, 10/13/08 build date was fine except for raised keys, then the capacitive stopped working. Then this one I have now is outstanding! 10/27/08 (old i know) but i have been usin it since 11/13/08 and i have no issues AT ALL not even uneven KB or raised home key!

OP here with an update-

My original phone was like a 10/11 or something build date, the Best Buy swap was, I believe, 10/22. That second phone had the screen peeling away issue as I mentioned, and the back cover was squeaky, but otherwise it was perfect.

This new one doesn't even have the squeaky back cover, which astounds me.

It also absolutely does not have any yellow tint to the screen, it looks exactly the same as the old phone did. I held them side by side as the old one booted after wipe and redid customizations, and the new one did its customizations for the first time.

I probably got lucky with the brand-new swap...because of the glut of people swapping Moguls for Touch Pros. This Sprint store seems more than willing to give me new phones in trade for old ones though. They gave me a brand new Mogul when I had issues with that, a few months ago.

My only complaint is that my screen protector isn't bubble-free around the edges like it used to be...but that's more my fault than anything. Time to order a new one, I guess.

OP, or anyone else with the newer keyboard. can you post a night time pic of the keyboard lit up?

thanks! mine is a 12/11/08, no major problems except for the keyboard lighting unevenly and wobbly slider.
