Active Sync turning on when no coverage

I have the Asynckiller app and it genearlly works great for me. But this weekend I spent a few days in the woods camping with no cell phone coverage. Everytime I turned my TP on, ActiveSync would be running. I'd kill it manually, but it would be running again the next time I turned it on. I did a soft reset, reinstalled the Asynckiller app, etc. Once I got back into an area with coverage, no more issues.

Can anyone tell me what was turning it on? I do have the "Auto Time sync" turned on, and did not try to disable it this weekend. I only found about it today while searching here and other forums for an answer before posting. Could that have been the issue?

It did run the battery down a lot faster with Async running all the time, as folks say it wil. So the AsyncKiller app does help save battery power.
