Connecting to PC as disk drive

I connected my TP by USB to my PC (XP home) - I have the 'settings' for USB to PC set to disk drive.

In 'My Computer' I see 'Mobile Device' - and clicking on it does nothing. I also see a new 'drive' F:. On the new drive I see one file EncFiltLog.menc - If I had to guess, this is the SD card? Can I not see the files on the TP itself? I could see them through explorer with Active Sync. But I find Active Sync slow for copying files.

Can I only copy files to the SD card and then have to move them where I want them on the device itself?

I could very well be doing something wrong, because I had to reboot my PC before XP recognized the TP at all (although the TP knew it was connected as a disk drive). I kept getting an 'unknown device' error. (rebooting solved that - I thought)

Re: Connecting to PC as disk drive

That's correct. When it's connected as a storage device, you don't have access to the rest of the device, only the SD card.

If you want full access to both SD card and device memory, then you have to connect through AS.

cheers

Re: Connecting to PC as disk drive

Yeah sorry pal. I have the same issue as well.

For me the biggest pain in the butt is that when i have it plugged in as storage, if i want to open my notes on the phone i can't because the SD is cut off from the phone! So it burns us twice hahaha.
