Wifi Turning on by itself

I suspect this is a software issue, and not Touch pro specific but I thought I would ask. I'm getting frequent situation where my wifi is turning on by itself, without me choosing to enable it. It seems to usually happen when I initiate a call, but sometimes it comes on when I'm in email or doing other things.

Anyone else experiencing this? I suspect software but haven't been able to isolate. I have the same general software setup as I had on my Titan, so not sure why I would be seeing this. thanks

Are you using a stock rom or a cooked rom? I have not seen this reported anywhere else. Is there any specific program installed or mods you may have done that could be the cause?

IIRC, I thought there was a setting that allowed you to set the default data type. I spent the last few minutes looking through the connection settings and couldn't find anything so maybe I am mistaken.

But try going under Start > Settings > Connections Tab > Connections > Advanced Tab > Select Network.

What does it say under "Programs that automatically connect ot the Internet should connect using:

Mine says sprint...

If you use Fring, that's what it is.

Re: Wifi Turning on by itself

Thanks to everyone. I've got a Sprint TP, using Verizon service and Verizon ROM, so that may be the issue. There is another thread stared today, with this issue, and some think culprit is provider data connection stopping, with phone then reaching out for wifi to get to data. I've got Activesync running with Exchange server, so constant polling for server sync.

I use WMwifirouter, but not running in the background--only have it open when I have a need for it.

Not using Fring (don't know what it is--need to check this out).

The Select Network tab states "Verizon Wireless", which should correctly refer only to my VZW data connection.

I'm usually able to head off the battery drain, when I get the 'ppiinng' sound of the Wifi picking up a network (and then go and manually turn off wifi).

Thanks for ideas.
Jeff
