What is FTP?

How do you use it? I tried a search for it, but I didn't kow how to word it for the 4 character limitation. I have had it with my Resco for some time now and I just been wondering.

I use FileZilla to access the ftp for uploads/downloads. And it's free btw...

From my understanding of that, and I could be wrong, you can only upload and download here, and delete things out of the FTP here, not using the Resco FTP on my phone?

FTP is 'File Transfer Protocol'

Google it.

In the 'old' days, not everything was linked via HTTP in web pages.. you actually had to go to an FTP site, log in, navagate directories and pick the file you wanted to upload or download.

There are a LOT of other places this is used (uploading/downloading files to a web host, etc)

If you don't know what it is, you probably don't need it

The way I figure it, I paid 50 for this Resco Media Suite, and I have always wondered what this does. Might as well take advantage of it, if possible. Is it that complicated to really figure out?

It's not a matter of it being complicated, because it's not.

It's a matter of do you need to use it? If you had a website hosted someplace you could use it to upload and download files, this is hardly practical for PPC users though. You could also use the PPC geeks FTP link to get cabs, themes, etc using the ftp link the user 3 or 4 posts above me gave.
