Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here

i have also been having problems with the d pad button. Actually, i was able to map it, but in the unmapping back to Action/Default Handler (or not letting ae button control it at all), i lost push and hold functionality. been searching forums all night for a possible fix. I guess i will run a sprite backup/hard reset/restore to see if the functionality comes back. i miss the easy cut/paste in calendar and whatnot...

anyone know any registry keys i might be able to check?

Thanks!

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here

You guys should give this a try for FULL key mapping including keyboard!

**NOW PORTED FOR CDMA DEVICES!!!!!! 6/16/09!!!

This is what many touch pro/fuze owners want to have - ability to get full control over their keyboards.

So, what is it ? It's a patched keyboard driver with configurator application for keys setup. Any key (yeah, i mean ANY, including Home and Back keys) can be reassigned to perform desired actions. Keys on a QWERTY keyboard are not an exception, they might be remapped too.
If any key has an action configured and is defined to be processed by my driver extension, it wouldn't go into the system. That is to say no one program even like AEButton will see key events processed by my driver.
Driver extension also can vibrate on any key press.

The driver I've patched was tested on several ROMs based on different OEMs, so it would work in most cases.
Many thanks to all testers!

Requirements:
- .NET CF 2.0 (for configurator app)
- WM 6.1/6.5 compatible

Usage:
- Install SdkCerts.cab
- Install RaphKbdConfig.cab
- Soft reset
- Check if keyboard works by pressing hardware buttons and seeing if they do their work, if not - uninstall cab, this wouldn't work on your current ROM
- If it works - go to the control panel and find "Keyboard Config" on a System page

How to define key processing:
- Run configurator (Control Panel -> System -> Keyboard Config)
- Press Menu -> Add key
- When dialog asking you to press key appears press and release desired key
- Set up needed options in key setup dialog and press OK (left softkey)
- In configurator's main window press left softkey "Update settings" to let new configuration take place (reboot is not needed, coz new settings will work immediately after saving)

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here

I found the 'POWER OFF' option... but please someone tell me I skimmed over the Power On option. I would be thrilled if I could just hold down the center key and 'Wake' the phone.

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here

I'm just trying out this thing, too bad it seems to have no documentation.

I keep reading that I can assign multiple functions to my keys. Now maybe that just needs to be refrased.
I want to assign an action for both single press and long press to a button but I don't see a way to add a second action.

If it's not possible does anyone know of something else that can?

Thanks,

Kenny

Re: Remapping Hardware Buttons - Options Here

Long time aebutton user. Made heavy use of it with 6700 and 6900. Put it on touch pro but I "over programmed" it and ended up turning it off. Bumped into this thread and rethought my use of it. Here are my recommendations:

1. Forget the home and return buttons (top two). You can add them manually to aebutton and program them but they will first do their default action before the aebutton assigned action.
2. I had never thought about solving the volume button problem using aebutton. I read the original poster (stroth) and realized it should be running it if only to keep the volume buttons from triggering when I pick up the phone or cradle it. EXCELLENT SOLUTION!
3. I'm not using long press on any of my assignments - Even though I assigned the Green phone button to aebutton and didn't assign anything to long press a long press invokes Voice Commander - just what I want it to do.
4. Don't assign something that takes a long time to load or get out of once invoked - that way an accidental press at just the most inconvenient time won't get in your way. (in my case no audible player, camera, pocket player)
