Pls Help! How To Backup TP with Broken/Dead Screen?

I dropped my TP last night and cracked/broke the screen. From what I can tell, the phone still works fine.. I just cant see a whole lot. If I apply pressure to the opposite top and bottom corners I can make out the TF3D nav bar at the bottom, but that's about it..

Is there any way to use an external viewer? Or an app I can use on my computer to backup the contacts/sms on my phone, without having to do any installing or navigation on the actual phone itself?

Or any other ideas or suggestions? Please help!

Thanks!!

If you can get it to Activesync, you could at least back that stuff up... but most of the programs that control the phone or backup everything on the phone require at least _some_ interaction with the phone itself...

Re: Pls Help! How To Backup TP with Broken/Dead Screen?

Thanks for the reply.. and that brings another question to mind. I tried that last night after I got home, and it didn't work, but I think it might be just a result of a configuration error w/activesync.

I've used activesync to back up the phone before.. but last night, I plugged it in, it started charging, and the dialog box (not activesync) popped up that allows you to choose what you want to do (ex - picture and fax viewer, take no action, etc), so the computer is recognizing a usb device, but activesync isnt seeing the phone for some reason.. any idea why?

If I could just get my contacts, that would suffice..

Thanks Again!

Yet another reason to use Google Sync

I bet it's using your phone as a mass storage device. I'm not sure if the stock ROMs do this (they probably do) but when I plug my phone in, it gives three options - ActiveSync, Storage Device or Internet Sharing. It'll default to the last one you used if you don't choose anything... So try to tap near the top of the screen right after you plug the device in. That's my best guess for what's going on.

That's a good suggestion, although it looks like at the very least you need an ActiveSync cxn to the phone. Looks like it'll do IP as well, but again you'd need to know the IP of the phone...

Re: Pls Help! How To Backup TP with Broken/Dead Screen?

Thanks to all who've replied. That MyMobiler looks promising.. so long as I dont end up having to install a client on the phone. Either way, im gonna try it right here at work as soon as I get back from lunch.. will post back with the results!
