A few unanswered questions

Hello everyone,

I asked a couple of questions in different threads but got no answers. So I thought Id ask here in the GENERAL section hoping it will help other minority such as me.

I have a Telus CDMA unlocked, which I am using with FIDO(GSM) on it. Here are my questions.

1-For some reason, my network shows Rogers and not Fido. So I am worried that when I get the data plan, I will be charged as roaming (I get a lot of roaming pop ups when using certain applications). I also have the Roaming triangle. When searching manually for network, i only find rogers.
Yes, I do know that Rogers owns Fido, but most of my friends have FIDO on their phones and don't show roaming like mine.

2-Are Fido members affected by the tethering ( I did ask in that thread but got no replies as we are minority)

3- Does our CDMA have the FM hardware or not. Because I always get 50-50 answers yes and no. Is it there but could not get it to work or not there in the first place?

Thank you for helping me and others who have similar questions.

Re: A few unanswered questions

clarification: have you flashed a custom ROM on your phone...if so did you use the correct carrier provisioning cab?

Think the tethering issue is only affecting Telus AND Verizon geekers...have NOT yet read any Sprint folks affected. Not sure about your carrier though.

As far as I understand it, the FM hardware is there...but it is LOCKED. Cannot be accessed as of it for our CDMA device. (then again, I've been counfused about this too...so pls excuse me if the radio thing is wrong.)

Thank you so much for replying. Ive been questioning PPCgeeks for quite sometime as ive been on XDA since 2006 as it seems it has more action than here and more people that help.

Yea, I flashed Photon 23504 and in the provisioning cab, No fido selection nor nothing, only CDMA carriers (Sprnt, telus, verizon). No gsm carriers.
Im always getting the ROAMING triangle and really worried that i get charged for data plan as applications keeps on telling me "you are roaming, xtra charges may apply". Whereas on my current phone calls, im not being charged. So I am thinking I hope there's a way to change ROGERS, to FIDO to be extra safe.

Thank you

Re: A few unanswered questions

I experienced somewhat of a similar issue with a Treo I had some time back. It was a Rogers phone that I got unlocked and then used it with Fido. It would always show it was roaming, but it was not. We know this because it was pay as you go, and we were being charged the normal local call rate. We used it for a long time on Fido, and the roaming notice never changed, but we never had any issues.

All I can suggest is that you check your usage on-line. You should have the ability to check your voice and data usage on-line -even with Fido. That'll save you waiting until the monthly bill comes in and you find you've been dinged $1000 for roaming

Appreciate the input
Yes, my calls always show roaming but I am charged normally. Im just worried the data plan will change. I guess the only way to do so is just try it out. At most, ill prob pay the first extra charger till i detect them
