Sprint Tethering HELP

My question is how do u actually know tht the un-detected tethering hack really works? the one tht i have i found in a link it was 3 cab files the first one
1. disable htc guardian
2. htc-usb-to-pc
3. Internet sharing fix

is there a way i can comfirm tht its actually working? thing is im a college student an i alway have my laptop with me. i installed the cm wifi router and installed those 3 un-detected tethering cab file. im on the sero 500 plan so im just trying to make sure.
