Gmail/Pop on TP2

When I set up my gmail account on my TP2 it will only allow me to use IMAP.

Basically what happens, I go a couple of days with out checking my email at home with Outlook. I check emails on the phone and delete them from the phone, when I download through outlook I get days worth of emails. I only need the ones that are in my inbox online but I get all of them even the deleted ones.

When I had it set up as a POP account it would delete them but the phone won't let me change it to a POP setting.

Solutions?

Thanks!

Re: Gmail/Pop on TP2

You can do it!

There is on trick to setup a pop for gmail.

Since Outlook Mobile will automatically set you up to gmail if you enter a gmail email address to start with, I enter my address, but temporarily change it to something else (joe.blow@gmail1.com). That way Outlook Mobile does not automatically set it up for you.

After I finish with the setup, I go back and correct the server name. No problems.

Hope that makes sense.

Re: Gmail/Pop on TP2

If you set up your desktop Outlook as IMAP as well, you should see the same thing on the phone and the desktop.

Awesome.

Yeah that is a PITA when you want a pop setup but it decides for you that you want imap.

Glad it works for you.
