You can have the best of both worlds with the right tweaks.

Can you post this version of MTP? Mine doesn't move from the end position and doesn't have that type of icon. Also, which launcher plug-in are you using?

Not true, you just need the right plug-ins, though, partially true 'cause this phone doesn't come with any good plug-ins installed. My last two WinMo phones were STACKED with built in plug-ins. Not sure why HTC skimped on this. Get the right plug-ins and you can make yr homescreen look any way you can imagine. I like Easy Today Launcher, Pocket Digital Clock and Weather Panel. The options of these plug-ins goes much further than TF3D and are more stable, efficient and are very finger friendly.

Re: You want a performance boost - Go Simple

I don't find TF3D to be slow, but I dislike the extra steps / clicks it adds to almost every routine operation compared to stock WM.

OTOH, I don't find WM 6.1 to be finger-friendly enough to use alone on the TP2... but I suspect 6.5 will be. I'm likely to ditch TF3D when 6.5 is out.

seriously these tweaks are a MUST. if you truly prefer faster opera boot then don't do the push internet one. but if you seldom use opera then do both.

with tf3d enabled i boot at 40% memory usage, and if it ever climbs up (ie after using opera and various programs) i run cleanram and it brings it back down to mid 40's, and thats speedy enough for me. however once we get some custom roms i am definitely gonna play around with titanium, as i am not 100% thrilled with tf3d, just can't stand stock wm6.1 today screen

I can run weather panel, spb phone suite, a clock app, multiple program shortcuts, a caledar list program, task lists, S2U, WKtask, and more. You can have an infinate number of screens. Completely customizable. Very clean. I have enclosed the cab file for ultimate launch in case someone needs it. It is free to use. If you want to get rid of the writing in the corners you have to go to the developers site and pay $20 for it. It is very usable without it though. I have tried everything from SPB Shell, TF3D, PointUI, Throttle, etc, etc. This has always been my fail safe fall back. Hardly ever have to reset and again very customizable. You can even get a vga version of the regulare HTC Home plug to work on this which works well.

this is great and all, but even using TouchFlo I have the same amount of free memory. So, wheres the savings?
