What is manila 2.1 and 2.5? - Page 2

Does the new 2.1 (with HTC Sense) include the background weather animations on the homescreen? That was something I was really looking forward too. I've seen those screen shots with the animations in most of the 2.5 ROMs but not in the 2.1 ROMs.

Yes the newer versions of 2.1 have the gps weather clock like 2.5

the original 2.1 is what you have on your phone now, the is a new version of 2.1 called htc sense that includes weather clock, home screen animations etc. majority of the rom previews that you see in the upgrades section are the new 2.1(htc sense) NOT 2.5 like many believe. when the carriers release their 6.5 upgrades they will most likely come with the updated version of 2.1 (htc sense)

2.5 does not support landscape in any tabs other that music and photos. that is not a bug or glitch its how it is supposed to be because it was desinged for a phone without a keyboard. the only place that this is affecting is when you are in touch flo3d everywhere else (ie: emails, word, opera etc) you will have landscape like normal

the new version of 2.1 has all the features of 2.5 excpet the shortcuts on the home sceen and some other minor cosmetic differences.

To be clear, I am referring to the water drops of the background, not the forecast icon in the center of the screen. I took this picture from EnergyROM (LEo, Manila 2.5)

yes look at the 1st picture i posted. in the screen on the left the sun isnt shining, in the screen on the right you can plainly see that its "shimmering" or whatever you want to call it. that is the home tab weather animations

Ohh ok. I saw the "shimmering" but I didn't realize it was originating from the weather. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Anyone know if it is possible to patch manilla 2.1 to add the shortcuts on the front page like in 2.5? Thats the main thing I am looking for from 2.5.

no one has tried that i know of so im not sure but it may be

yes it can be installed on a tp2, however now with just a cab most likely. in all liklehood you will have to flash a custom rom or wait for the carriers to release their 6.5 rom upgrades in order to get it.
