Exploring entire device

Is there anyway to explore the entire PPC's file system remotely? Disk drive mode only lets you see a limited view. I want to be able to navigate the entire file system & search it.

Edit- the explore option is not the issue, it's the being able to search the device

Re: Exploring entire device

can't you do that through activesync? I remember being able to with the vogue and tp1. I just connected and did the activesync and you can browse through the WHOLE phone internal and sd

Re: Exploring entire device

if it's in sync, you can. by default, you won't be able to see system folders such as "windows." but if you use something like total commander, you can change the properties of the folder and uncheck "system." then that folder will show up while in sync to your pc.

Re: Exploring entire device

Connect with ActiveSync, then simply use My Computer on your computer and go to Mobile Device. You can then browse the internal and external storage.

Re: Exploring entire device

thanks for the quick replies. My issue is not really with the actual "exploring". It's more with the ability to search all the contents within that device, including the system folders. While you can search the peronal data, the ability to search within "My windows Mobile-based device" is unavailable, which contains all the stuff I really want to look at

You need to make sure that you go into the views section of the folder while on active sync and check the show hidden files and folders box. There is aolso a free program called CeRegEditor that will let you into all the files as well from your desktop.

CeRegEditor allows you to view / edit your Windows Mobile registry from your desktop. The OP is trying to use something like the WM Start | Programs | Search application to search within his files, but from his desktop.
