Re: T-mobile TP2 TF3D defaults to IE

application data is a folder in the base directory of the phone if you connect the phone to your computer and you click on "Mobile Device" in your "My Computer" folder it will open up the my documents folder on the device from here you click on "My Windows Mobile-Based Device" and you should see the "Application Data" folder click on the that and you will find the "Manila" folder and in there the "InternetPortal-en-us.xml" file you need to edit pull it back to your computer open up its properties and uncheck the read only file attribute then open it up in notepad make your changes save them and recheck the read only file attribute after that is all done overwrite the file on the device and restart and it should work

Re: T-mobile TP2 TF3D defaults to IE

Thanks DargonBM!

FYI, I've quoted your instructions in their entirety over at HowardForums, with attribution:

"Thanks to DargonBM over at the PPCGeeks Touch Pro 2 forums for these instructions on how to change the default browser from IE to Opera."

Hope you get some thanks from over there, as well

Re: T-mobile TP2 TF3D defaults to IE

I did things a little bit differently. I wanted the Internet tab to look like the Touch Pro did, where my bookmarks are listed (not the T-Mobile ones). Here's what I did:

1.) Open Application data folder & delete the file: InternetPortal-en-us.xml

2.) Unzip and Copy the attached manila file, 27c65cbd_manila, to \windows\

Note: The stock file is read only. Use a file utility program such as Resco to remove read only attribute.

3.) Delete the following registry keys (they are not needed):

HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\DefaultBrowserIsIE
HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\InternetSearchUrl
Attached Files
File Type: zip 27c65cbd_manila.zip (495 Bytes, 16 views) Click for barcode!

Re: T-mobile TP2 TF3D defaults to IE

I tried the first edit to get opera to be the default browser and it didn't work??

here is the XML contents...??

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
  <BrowserExe>\Windows\OperaL.exe</BrowserExe>
  <IncludeUserFavorites>False</IncludeUserFavorites>
  <Banner
    DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
    SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"
    Text="Launch Browser"
    NavigateUrl="http://www.google.com"
    UrlText="Google"
    Width="480"
    Height="215" />
  <OperatorLinks>
    <Link
      Text="Bing"
      NavigateUrl="http://www.m.bing.com"
      ImagePath="\Windows\_Bookmark_icon.qtc" />
    <Link
      Text="CNN"
      NavigateUrl="http://tmobile.cnn.mlogic.mobi"
      ImagePath="\Windows\_Bookmark_icon.qtc" />
    <Link
      Text="eBay"
      NavigateUrl="http://m.ebay.com/"
      ImagePath="\Windows\_Bookmark_icon.qtc" />
   </OperatorLinks>
</InternetPortal>
All of the other changes worked, but not the Opera change??

Thanks for the help!
-Jason
