Is buying a generic battery worse than a reputable one?

I'm looking on eBay at batteries for my TP2 and wondering if anyone has experience with generic $6.99 extended batteries?

If anyone has any suggestions/preferences on extended batteries, please!! I'm all ears. I only have 1 thing, it has to fit inside the stock back cover/battery case please.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Cheap LiIon batteries have a habit of exploding. I would never buy a no-name battery.

could one of you or someone else suggest/recommend a site or two where I can get a quality LiIon for a fairly competitive price?

Re: Is buying a generic battery worse than a reputable one?

A lot of people ask this question, and i've never had a solid answer on which batteries are truly the best, but take a look at this link. It shows how they really preform. Anyway hope this helps, if so please hit thanks

BatteryBoss Calls Out False Capacity Claims!

If anyone else finds more info on other batteries please keep posting, obviously batteries are one of the bigger problems of these phones.

website is good but all the links for the most part are dead. I am looking on eBay for Genuine HTC Touch Pro 2 batteries and comments from power sellers have negative ones stating they're not new, blah blah blah. Looks like no one has a definitive answer. I guess I'll just buy one from store and pay full price so I know what I'm getting.

Re: Is buying a generic battery worse than a reputable one?

I've never had problems with generic batteries from ebay (extended or not). I've purchased them for my mogul, TP, Diamond, TP2 and Moment so far...

Re: Is buying a generic battery worse than a reputable one?

i've never had an issue either, but then again, it's a very common failure point, the 'better' batteries have just been tested more.
