sms over 160 characters

currently, when I send a sms that's over 160 characters, it is split up into multiple sms's.

I've noticed that for android phones, when they do the same, each message is prefaced with (1/4), (2,4), (3/4), (4/4), etc. For example, if I sent a message that's 180 characters, the first message would start with (1/2), and the second part of the same messsage would start with (2/2).

can this be programmed for the TP2 for the outbound messages?

Re: sms over 160 characters

You would likely have to re-write how WM does text messaging, or create your own app to do so. You may try searching for something like that online, but I've never seen something to do this on a WM device.

Re: sms over 160 characters

u could send them as mms. that way they come as just one big message. all u do is act like ur going to send a pic message but not. u write ur message where it says enter here then hit send. when u try ull get a message that says that it has no media content and asked if u want to send it by sms instead, just say no. works perfectly i do it all the time with my ex because she has problems recieving sms.

Re: sms over 160 characters

yeah MMS gives you a thousand charactor limit..

and the SMS client DOES work like this already.. ie with the 1/2, 2/2. etc

we just went through my GFs BS Samsung SEEK and looked at my texts from my TP2.. about 90% of the time my messages DO show the 1/4,2/4,3/4,4/4 at the begining of each message on her phone... there were serveral threads on her phone(about 10% of mine) from me though that DIDNt show it....

so, more often than not, the person receiving your texts, should be seeing the 1/2,2/2 markers..

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; SCH-I500 Build/ECLAIR) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

It may be something that is automatically put in by carrier networks as well.
