Telus TP2 on Sprint / Verizon

Hey guys just had a quick question. I'm currently in Canada and have been using my Telus TP2 for almost a year now. I bought the phone full price and I'm not on any contract. Just graduated from university and might be moving to the U.S. for work. I was thinking is it possible to register the Telus TP2 ESN on the Sprint or Verizon network and sign up for a plan once I'm there? I guess the best people to ask would be the tech support at Sprint and Verizon. Has anyone done anything similar before? Is it best to sell the phone locally before I leave and get something else when I move down there?
