Hard Reset after Sprint 6.5 update

I was curious, whats the benefit of hard resetting after running the 6.5 update?

How do you do the hard reset ???

Im having problems with the music player. It freezes every time I play a song from my memory card but not will not freeze if the song is in the onboard memory of the phone and I play it.
