Quick Headphone Power Question

Greetings,

I have a great pair of Dennon full size headphones. I also have a nice pair of Bose ear buds.

I am about to take a 5 hour flight and want to watch a movie or 2 on my TP2. Will my full size Dennons drain the battery faster than the little ear buds if I have the volume set at the same level for each? That is, if I put the volume at 80%, will the big ones drain faster than the small ones at 80%?

Thanks for any advice.

Doug M.

Re: Quick Headphone Power Question

dwmackay, you're right to assume that volume isn't the only factor in power consumption. Other factors to consider would be:

- noise cancellation turned on
- wider range of sound spectrum (that would be bose!)
- type of magnet used in the speaker

That said, earbuds will universally sound louder than on-ear or over-ear headphones if the volume remains the same, simply because they are closer to your ear. Don't know if this helps, but personally, I would go with the earbuds.

Re: Quick Headphone Power Question

I recently watched a 3 hour movie and a 1 family guy episode while I was flying to St. Louis. That being said, towards the end of the family guy episode I got the 5% warning. I was using iphone headphone and the Mightyrom, the screen brightness was at 50%. The volume was all the way up.

If the over the ear headphones are powered by an external source i.e AAA battery then I assume you should be fine
