Program Backups Before Flash to new ROM

I skimmed a few older threads but didn't see and answer to my question per say, so forgive me for asking it again.

Is there a good way to backup programs installed to the SD card on my TP2 before I flash it. I have like 2 dozen medical programs that take forever to install every time I flash my phone. Is there an easy way to just recover them in windows (since they're truly installed to the SD cards)?

Generally I just use outlook to backup my contacts and use a folder full of tweaks for installs, but my programs take forever (tons of Skyscape programs, IGuidance, Epocrates ect.)

Thanks in advance!!

Was using UC and now Sashimi - auto installs everything for you. Sashimi you can choose to install it to your Storage Card as well -

Some excellent reading

If the apps are PC based for instal then you are out of luck as I know of no way to get around the pain.

You can try to right click and open with winrar to find the .cab file.

Yea I was hoping to just backup a folder or something to allow me to access the programs from my SD card.

Re: Program Backups Before Flash to new ROM

Just an example, I know it's not a .cab file but it's a .exe file opened with winrar to extract the content you want out of it:

You get the point?

Re: Program Backups Before Flash to new ROM

Depending on the application you may be able to navigate to the folder on your SD card and tap on the shortcut, or .exe and it will run fine. If so then just copy and paste a shortcut in your programs folder.

This works on many applications installed to storage cards, but if the application install files to your device in may not work well.

Re: Program Backups Before Flash to new ROM

I understand the replies but it doesn't really apply because all of the Skyscape programs require online activation and serial number confirmation on the PC interface to complete the install. I'll have to look at the files when I get home to extract the .cabs but according to SkyScapes own webpage there isn't a way for their products to use a device based install.
